The Dower House Hotel Woodhall Spa is a gem of a wedding venue. I felt very lucky to be photographing Leanne and Ben’s wedding there a few weeks ago. The heavens opened just as we drove from St Margarets Church in Sibsey near Boston. Thankfully Ben had warned me that the grounds at the Dower House were sodden so we took the decision to take the big group wedding photo under a beautiful tree outside the church. Good move!
However, when I met the charming Anne, Liz and Simon at the Dower House Hotel and asked if there was any space anywhere where I could take the smaller intimate group photos I was amazed as they showed me one beautiful room after another. There were so many features in this hotel that it actually was (for me) a blessing that rain had stopped us from going outside!
Leanne had chosen a slight vintage feel to her wedding and the detail that had gone into the planning of it was wonderful. From the popular wedding mantra of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue – and a silver sixpence in the shoe” (there was!) , to a thoroughly modern wedding arch made up the paddles from the canoe section of Ben’s local Scout group, this wedding was an absolute delight.
I try to keep my wedding photography stylish and elegant and everything about this wedding was just that. It was such a privilege to be asked to take these wedding photos. The couple came round the other night to watch their wedding DVD slideshow set to music which is how I present my photos and Leanne quietly cried with emotion throughout the whole screening. “Amazing!” she kept saying…….”I didnt know you were there taking those photos!” was another comment. They were both thrilled. I love my job 🙂
