I was asked at a recent wedding fair whether I could show images from a certain venue, which made me think that perhaps I ought to have a section in my blog for wedding photos taken at key venues in and around the Lincs, Notts and Cambs areas. So here is the first – The Petwood Hotel in the beautiful Lincolnshire town of Woodhall Spa.
The Petwood was originally built as the home of an Edwardian baroness, it later became home to the 617 Squadron – more commonly known as the Dambusters – when the it was requisitioned by the RAF in the Second World War. Today, the Squadron Bar is dedicated to this group of men and makes an interesting port of call for those visiting the region for historical aviation tours. Nowadays it is very popular as a wedding venue due to its extensive grounds and the beautiful building. However be warned – they often have two weddings on at a time which makes it interesting as the photographers battle it out to get the best spot. I have done a couple of weddings there where the other photographer is one that takes hours to take their shots and my couple have had to miss out on the prime photo opportunity. Very frustrating!! ( Needless to say I DON’T take hours to take my shots!!) Anyway here is small collection of photos taken from some weddings at the Petwood Hotel.
